Skype in Education

Being a German minor along with an Ed Tech minor, many have asked me how I am going to utilize my German.  Well, here is the first thing I thought of.  Skype.  Now, I know that we use Skype to keep in contact with friends and family that have moved away, but why not use it in the classroom?

I think that using Skype in the classroom is very beneficial because you can not only talk to your students, but they can talk to students in another state, or even country.  This would help them learn about their culture, education, and even language.  Using Skype would help everyone learn because you can compare and contrast many things between different educational systems.             And, it's free!  What's not to love about that??  Skype is a completely free program that would allow you to connect to people all over the world.

Overall, I think that utilizing Skype can be very positive for your students, especially since they are growing up in a technology filled world.  Bringing things that they may know how to use is what is going to keep your classroom atmosphere calm and educational.

Here is a website you can go to find more information about Skype in the classroom.
